My Bead Soup Blog Party Design...WELCOME!!!

 7th Bead Soup Blog Party!  Welcome to my blog!





I changed my design a couple of times.  Here is the first idea that I had-I just didn't like the fiber along the side of the necklace.  So, it had to go away.

 So, I played a little more and my final design is this---



 




 I wrapped a filigree piece around the heart to create a necklace that could be worn two ways.  I used azurite beads to pick up the blue and green in the focal heart and faceted crystal quartz to accent the beads.  I created 'heart' looking wire findings to connect the elements.  I made a double strand from the silver tube bead up to where the chain is attached.  I integrated the glass beads into a stack of bracelets.  I used the fiber that Cheri wrapped around my box to create one bracelet-just wrapped the fiber and used copper wire to hold it together.  There are a bunch of other pieces that make up the bunch of bracelets.  It was fun, fun, fun.  I so appreciate what Lori Anderson has done over the years.  This was the first time that I participated in the Bead Soup Blog Party and I hope not my last.  Lori deserves major kudos and praise beyond this world.  I truly do appreciate her dedication and vast amounts of time that she has committed to this project.  Thank you, Lori!

Getting ready for ARTISCAPE!

Artiscape is an event running from April 18th through the 21st.  It is Columbus, Ohio and sponsored by European Papers.  (their website is europeanpapers.com...check them out!)  There is going to be such a vast array of classes in many different techniques.  I think it is going to be a lot of fun!  I signed up for 5 different classes.  There are many things going on besides the classes...you really need to check our their website.  You are encouraged to make something to 'trade'.  Say you 'covet' a do-dad that another classmate has made...you could offer a trade.  So, this is what I made to trade.  I actually do call these 'do-dads' or whatcha-ma-jigs.  They can be used for zipper pulls, be attached to purses, cameras, cell phones, fan pulls and whatever else you can think of!!!  And just a reminder-I posted another picture of the crystal necklace I made for the auction at Artiscape.  The proceeds benefit The Red Dress project.

Just had to share...

There hasn't been to many signs of Spring lately.  You have to look closely to see a glimmer of what this time of year should be!
I have noticed a bunny in the backyard.  Every time I would let my Digger dog out, she would see the bunny too.  I guess I'm kind of happy that she is a bit older...the bunnies have a better chance.  Digger has arthritis in her ankles.  So, today I was watching Mr. Bunny and watched where he went.  I have a partial retaining wall with some small blue spruce trees planted behind the wall.  I see Mr. Bunny jump up on the retaining wall and crawl under one of the blue spruces.  Curiosity  got the best of me...I had to go out and look...you know, just to see.  Of course, Digger dog has to go out with me.  So I walk to where Mr. Bunny has practically blended in with the leaves and dirt and his total surroundings.  I must have gotten to close for comfort because Mr. Bunny sprints off...Digger dog perks up and makes an attempt to catch poor little bunny.  She doesn't succeed.  But, I walk over to where Mr. Bunny was hiding and found that Mr. Bunny is Ms. Bunny.  Her little brood was tucked in a neatly dug nest with bunny fur sticking out.  I couldn't resist getting a little closer...Here is what I ended up with.

OOO, AHHHH! All that Glitters...

There is  an event coming soon to Columbus, Ohio called 'Artiscape'.  It is sponsored by a company called "European Papers". It is described on "European Papers" website as a fun creative weekend of mixed media, collage, bookbinding, altered arts, calligraphy, encaustics, jewelry, metal and more... I  am going to go for the first time...how exciting is that!  I am taking four classes for sure...I might work a fifth one in!  They are having a dinner on Friday night with a theme of 'White Star Ocean Voyage'.  There is a collaborative art project called My Heart Will Go On.  You are to make a piece of Titanic inspired art.  Anything goes here- mixed media, jewelry, wearable art, a Steampunk creation, etc...as long as it relates to the theme.  Pieces are being collected starting Friday and will displayed in masse to make one large art showing.  A silent auction benefits "The Red Dress" women's heart health initiative.  (Thank you European Papers for the wording!) 

   

 

 
 
 

 Here is the necklace that I made for the auction...I don't usually use crystals in my jewelry now a days.  I have had these crystals for a while now...I bought them some years ago.  (more affordable then!)
